We have owned our property to build on for three years now! In some ways it seems like a long time between then and now, and in other ways, I still remember it like yesterday when we first looked at the lot. I remember the exact way my heart felt at ease and filled w/ joy while driving away, after watching the kids take off to play w/ our neighbors. We also got to meet the neighbors, and chat for a bit.. Erik & I both knew it was exactly where we wanted to continue raising our family.
I saw this idea a couple of years ago, and have been looking forward to doing this w/ our family. There is something so special about literally surrounding yourself w/ the word of God. The kids thought it was cool that mom was actually telling them to write in their room w/ permanent marker! lol
What a great Sunday afternoon!
Kaylor wrote this verse in her room:
Ashlyn wrote: as we come and go God loves us
Little man wrote drew himself (that’s a mohawk) and “5 people” for our family.
This made my heart into a puddle in Rowen’s room:
Then the girls started writing silly things.. It wouldn’t have been a normal day for us w/out some sister orneriness.
Ashlyn responded w/ “Kaylor is not coming in here” .. lol

More from Kaylor’s writings:
Rowen wrote this in Kaylor’s room:
I loved finding Ashlyn’s writings.. she did great!

When I started coming down the ladder to the basement, all these yahoos made a “Whooaaaaa” sound to tease me… Good thing I adore them all, and I’m used to their shenanigans 🙂
Here are the verses that we used, and the kids wrote their own sentiments too, which I loved!
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord – Joshua 24:15
Taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! -Psalm 34:8
Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. -Deuteronomy 28:6
We love because he first loved us. -1 John 4:19
For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. -1 Corinthians 3:11
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16
And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord. -Luke 1:45
