I saw pictures of real live reindeer last year online that a friend took her child to see, and knew that this winter I just had to check them out w/ my own kiddos… What a neat place, called the “Reindeer Ranch“. Since it was December 20th and only a few days before Christmas, it was the perfect time to check out Santa’s sleigh helpers.. Kaylor had a bad headache so she didn’t want to come along.. we missed her!
The kids loved it! (and I’m not fooling anyone… we did too!) There was a super cute shop full of Christmas decorations, and some hot drink treats.. We shared some hot apple cider. Sooooo yummy. We had a little bit of a wait before our turn to do the reindeer tour, and I think Erik found some Christmas gifts that were on his list to buy. And the kids had some time to play on the hale bales and swings too… A little chilly, but really not bad for being the middle of winter.
Our ticket bought us a chance to feed & pet the reindeer, up close & personal… Apparently they aren’t too aware of how large some of their antlers are, so we were warned to stay alert.. The largest one had antlers with a 3 feet span! They really are beautiful animals. Their hooves “click” as they walk, therefore influencing the old Christmas song of hearing them on the rooftop. The reindeer would also “kiss” you if you put your cracker in your mouth to give to them… Ashlyn didn’t hesitate to try that out.
Afterwards, we headed into the little cafe and got some snacks to share, and enjoyed watching & listening to a man on guitar playing & singing Christmas songs..
What a super fun way to spend an afternoon right before the holiday..
