Since my husband was in the Dallas, TX area for almost two weeks, we had arranged a few days that I would go down in the middle of his stay for a long weekend. While I sure missed the kids, it was nice to have husband/wife time away together.. I’m not sure when the last time that happened was!
Our first stop after Erik picked me up at DFW airport was Fort Worth. We had so much fun walking around Stockyards, going through little shops, and looking at all the stands set up by the locals.
I held the horns of an enormous steer.. I could feel his weight & power just standing up against him.. Erik was fidgeting w/ the camera, and I kept thinking, “Hurry up already!” lol
I brought Kaylor back a couple of handmade necklaces.. While browsing through them, there were ones w/ butterflies (my grandma Fofo’s favorite) hanging right between ones w/ angels, and on the other side crosses. I had no doubt that she was w/ me at that moment.. It made me smile!
Erik & I went on a horse drawn carriage ride;
Each afternoon, the Stockyards have a cattle drive.. While it only lasts for a few short minutes, it was so neat to watch;
Of course when shopping, we had to check out Cavenders western store. My husband didn’t get any boots that day, but I never thought I’d see him actually considering it!
These however, did make their way home w/ me;
Is this store sign an oxymoron? lol
When shopping in the town of Fresco we discovered a ROSS… I picked up several maxi dresses, and could make a trip back ANYtime!
The friends we stayed w/ while I was down for the weekend hosted their annual craw-fish cookout.. This girl didn’t try any, but everyone raved that they were fantastic;
Sunday morning we joined our friends and went to their church. Not only was it Mother’s Day, but one of their girls celebrated her 1st Communion. What a beautiful family they are!
The girls & I headed out that afternoon for a little craft store & Charming Charlie store shopping. It was Mother’s Day, so I may have snuck in a little sleuthing to let the girls pick out a necklace. They were so excited to give it to her. (iPhone pic)
Since we don’t have lizards around IL, Blake & I went on a lizard hunt;
I also snuck each of the kids outside to take a portrait of them for their mommy… Guess this girl’s got a trick or two up her sleeve!
Their oldest shared my love for crafts, sewing, and knitting.. We were two peas in a pod;
It really was a great 4 days spent in Texas, and we loved hanging out w/ our friends and meeting new ones too. Thank you for the hospitality, Tyler & Amy! Can’t wait to visit again 🙂
