I love the days leading up to Christmas.. The excitement is in the air, planning menus for family get togethers… I love everything about it! Christmas eve, was much of our annual happenings each year. We headed to church, where Rowen was quite the ham dancing and singing along to Christmas songs. He loved it! We went the simple route for dinner, and ordered “take & bake” pizzas to bring home.. We had plenty of yummy desserts to munch on throughout the night too. The kids opened their stocking from Mamaw, and their Christmas Eve jammies. We watched Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and enjoyed each others’ company. I love having a house full on Christmas Eve w/ my mom, her bf, and my youngest brother staying w/ us.
Here’s our family of 5 on Christmas Eve;
I love the time I get to spend in my kitchen cooking & baking w/ my mom… We prepared breakfast casserole, monkey bread (w/ homemade dough), sweet potato casserole, homemade crescent rolls, and a hash-brown casserole. We try to make everything that we can for Christmas breakfast the night before, so all the we have to do is throw them in the oven the next morning. This year, we enjoyed a cocktail together, while we cooked, and had plenty of laughs. Definitely making memories!
The girls making a plate for Santa;
Clyde hiding out in the presents that Santa brought;
Rowen (in his usual spot, ON the island) helping Mamaw get breakfast ready;
Daddy has to have his morning coffee to be awake and functioning.. lol
Mom loved her Kindle Fire… an upgrade to color & touchscreen from her original Kindle…
These were gifts that the kids had put under the tree for me… Lots of colored pictures & notes;
My big surprise for Christmas… Erik ordered our new dining table & chairs! We have been talking for the last couple of years about what set we wanted. Our current only seats 4, so we’ve been desperately needing more seating. This one has an extension as well, and can seat up to 10. YAY for comfortable meals ALL at a new table! It’s not here yet, as he had to order it, but I sure am excited;
The crazy aftermath;
My in-laws got Rowen his first riding tractor.. He was in John Deere heaven! This boy loves tractors, and I can’t help but think that my grandpa Ray is surely in heaven smiling down at him enjoying tractors so much;
My sister, brother-in-law, and niece also came over for a Christmas w/ us.. They brought homemade tamales for dinner. Absolutely scrumptious! The kids had a blast opening gifts & playing together. Below is my grandpa w/ Rowen (his great-grandpa), and also helping my dad open a gift.
I love this image of my sister reading to Ashlyn;
The party really got started when the kids & Aunt Erica danced (again, and again) to “Gangnam Style”.. It was hysterical! My niece has MOVES! lolWe were especially thankful for getting to spend another Christmas w/ Grandma Fofo.. She’s a tough ol’ gal, and it’s great to see her doing so much better;
The was “Hey grandma, make a scary face!”…. lol
What a great 2012 Christmas season… I love spending time w/ our family, good food, and lots of laughter. Can’t ask for anything more. I hope yours was full of love as well!
