Kaylor’s “Tween” Bedroom…

Since moving into the new house, we knew Kaylor wanted a completely different feel/color scheme for her new bedroom… My oldest, “little” girl, is no longer a pink kind of bedroom, type of girl 🙁  lol  You may have guessed it from her 11th birthday party, that her new favorite color & pattern are aqua & zebra print.  I love the look too.  It’s still fun, and she loves it..  Paint color:  Jet Stream by Sherwin Williams

We sold the bunk bed a couple of months ago, and bought her a queen, so that she would have more room, and more bed for when her friends stay over.  So part of her birthday gift was all new bedding, and a few new items for her room.

The magnet board was a DIY project from her old room… I just replaced the pink patterned fabric w/ this black & white damask pattern.  To make it, I took a 16×20 frame, removed the glass, and cut  a piece of sheet metal to the same size as the glass.  I think cut the fabric w/ an inch and a half border around the metal, and used spray adhesive to attach the fabric.  Make sure it’s nice & smooth, fold the corners over, put in the frame, and that’s it!  Super simple, and easy to change if you need to.
I found the wall vinyl at the dollar store!  Yep, a $1 score… I was excited about this.  I put it on the wall right above Kaylor’s desk;

This little piggy… Picked up for a couple of dollars and a quick coat of spray paint;
We got her the zebra lamp for her birthday.  Canvas wall art was from Hobby Lobby (can’t beat 1/2 off!).

Here are some before pictures… Walls were the standard builder’s beige (w/ LOTS of pinholes) from prior owners;

And here’s a glimpse of what her old room colors were… Pretty different & new for her now.  She loves it, and I just may sneak in there to hang out while she’s at school, because I love how it turned out too 🙂
