Don’t get me wrong, I have a true appreciation for the beauty of wood… however, I’m also a big fan of painted wood 😛 After doing the mantel in our last home, I knew it was on my to-do list at our new house. The realization after completing the mantel? I couldn’t wait to get started on the built-ins surrounding it! (I’ll be sharing the finished pictures of that soon.. just started it this week). I honestly love how it turned out. A little time, yes, but in my book, so worth it! (See below for the primer & paint I used.. ) Oh, and ignore the bare windows for now… Hopefully I will have an update on those later this week.
Here is what I used for the project, and it worked great! No sanding at all. I chose the two specific brands below, specifically because they are odor free. First I did a rough coat of primer, which dried fairly quickly. Once it was completely dried, I went back over w/ a nice, even coat of paint. I would definitely recommend letting it cure for a couple of days before setting anything back on top of the finished paint. Simple as that! Time spent w/ a brush/roller in hand, and ta-da! 🙂
