…. said w/ the same excitement as “let the games begin”! Any other Hunger Games readers out there? <tap, tap> Is this thing on? 😛
We knew moving into our new house was going to present us w/ lots of little projects to work on.. Nothing in dire need of being done immediately, but definitely details that we wanted to change out, and switch up a bit. One of the very first tasks I tackled was updating the lighting fixture in what has become my office area. It was a bright, shiny brass… not so much our style. I knew eventually we would replace it, but I thought I would give painting it a shot. The worst that would happen, is we’d have to follow through w/ purchasing the new one sooner rather than later 🙂
After shutting off the circuit breaker, I un-wired the chandelier, took it down, and headed out to the garage. I removed all of the glass parts, and lightbulbs, then stuffed cotton balls into the sockets to prevent them from getting paint inside. A quick spray paint w/ a nickel finish, and it was looking pretty spiffy!
Please remember to turn your circuit breaker off before starting any type of electrical project… My husband advised this was my first & last electrical type of project.. lol I promised him there was no risk during the process 😉
Here are the before & after shots… I love how it turned out! Erik even asked, “I thought we were gonna pick out a new fixture together?” when he came home and saw it. He thought it was a completely different one! This definitely works for now, and really did update the space w/ such a minor change.
A few other little updates too, that included; new lamp, shelf hung up w/ pictures displayed, new roll up blinds (white from tan w/ red threading)
