to “A Step Inside”… our personal family blog, documenting the craziness of our every day life.. Sit back, enjoy, laugh, and share in the road we travel..

I'm Bridget.. A SAHM (stay at home mom), mother of 3, and a follower of Christ. I'm also a photographer, and passionate about life.. I hope to share that w/ you too! Life isn't always perfect, but it's perfectly created in His plan. I'm beyond thankful for God's grace and His many blessings!

Wednesday, March 18th…

Aie, yi, yi… Ever had one of “those” days.. I know, silly question… Yesterday was definitely one of “those” days here! Yesterday started out smoothly enough.. I picked up a new camera lens, delivered some girl scout cookies, no biggie.. Around lunchtime, I was on the phone w/ another photographer and Ashlyn was fussing a little, so I wasn’t paying a ton of attention to anything other than those 2 things, and I hear these huge sounds from our garage. I literally froze in my tracks. I hung up the phone, and my heart was POUNDING. I grabbed my phone and crept up to the front of our house and locked the door coming into the house from the garage. Our garage doors were not open, as we always close them after leaving or coming back home. So I wasn’t sure if they had been opened or not, from being on the phone & Ashlyn’s fussing. So I’m completley freaked out, I call Erik.. He tells me to just call the police, since he wouldn’t be able to get right there.. So I hover in our kitchen while talking w/ 911 & waiting for the police. Couple mins later, they show up and start checking around the house, etc. After searching the garage, in my Explorer, etc. they don’t find anyone (or anything). They leave, I re-lock the doors, etc. I’m still a bit on edge, but go w/ their idea that something probably just fell. Fast foward a couple of hours and it’s time to go get K from school. I head out, hit the garage opener, it starts, and completely stops.. Um.. so now I’m locked in the garage and cannot get my truck out. Great. So at that point I’m again on nerve, that these things are just not adding up. I try the neighbors house to see if he can pick up K (they have 2 boys that she plays w/), they’re not home. Called the school to let them know I was “stuck” in the garage, and luckily K’s best friend’s mom is there, she’ll bring her home. At least that was good.. Later after talking w/ my bil, he suggests that maybe the spring/coil to the garage door busted. Huh? lol.. Apparently when they do, it can be quite the ruckus of noise. Sure enough.. a garage repair company is coming anytime this am to fix it, and when I asked about it making a noise, they said, “Oh yeah, they’re loud when they go”.. So of course I had to ask, “Loud enough that you call the police because you think someone broke into your garage”.. to which the guy chuckles and says, “Yeeeeep!”.. Whew. So what could have been a bad scenario, isn’t so bad afterall.. Just another homeowner repair.. What a day though! lol..

ALWAYS better safe than sorry. There are a lot of robberies going on right now. I would have done the EXACT same thing!
