Monday, October 20th…

Back from Colorado! It was definitely a short trip, but nice all in all.. Congrats, Erica & Mike! The ceremony was so, so sweet.. I left the lodge yesterday at 3:15am and made my way (safely) to the airport and my flight… Got back into Normal around 12:30 yesterday. Definitely took some long naps and slept a lot! Kaylor gave me a huge hug randomly yesterday and said, “And THIS time, I’m NOT lettin’ go!”.. I think she missed me a little =)

Speaking of the flight… I *thought* the days of “Bridget-isms” had come to a quiet end… boy, was I wrong! So yesterday morning I head out for the airport.. I needed to fill up the rental SUV, and Erik kept telling me that if I saw a gas station open at that time of morning, just stop, regardless if the vehicle isn’t completely topped off, when I leave it at the airport.. Since the airport was 45 mins. from the lodge, I knew it wouldn’t be on “full” by the time I got there… So, I was happy to find a gas station w/ the airport in sight. I fill up, then hop back on the route.. I’m driving, and although it’s pitch dark outside, I knew what direction I was supposed to be heading.. At one particular stoplight it said “Airport Exit”.. I’m thinking, no.. I can’t use that, I want IN not OUT!.. So I pass it, and the next couple of stoplights have signs w/ acronyms and “employee entrance only”.. So I know that I cannot enter through that way as well.. So I keep going.. surely the entrance to the main parking areas is somewhere shortly ahead.. I then start seeing signs “Security Ahead, your vehicle WILL BE SEARCHED”.. No biggie, I’m just thinking, wow, this airport is VERY secure! But who am I to complain, it’s all to protect travelers! So I proceed… I come up to this little toll box looking shack, and about 30 feet ahead is a huge gated area, w/ barbed wire and all kinds of security checkpoint signs.. Again, I’m thinking, wow, these guys really mean business! So I’m peering into this little “hut” and no one is around.. (still pitch black out, mind you).. I had the rental car return instructions in my hand so I’m looking them over.. I know I have to get a ticket for parking, to leave in the vehicle.. So maybe that little box up by the big fence is where my ticket is… I pull up the 30ft or so to the box, and w/ my head stuck out the window I’m looking for the push for ticket button.. This little box says something along the lines of “badge entrance only”.. Um… I don’t have a badge?.. So I look over the instructions from Enterprise once again.. I took all the right turns, according to the paper… A couple moments pass and I feel someone watching me. I look into my side mirror and I see this burly, almost manly looking woman, in full military gear, and armed, standing w/ a less than thrilled look on her face, and her arms crossed… UH OH. With a big sigh of, “here we go”, I put the car into reverse and slowly back my way up to her.. I flash her my best smile and she says “CAN I HELP YOU?” w/ a grunt. I kindly tell her that I’m looking for the economy parking to return my rental car.. She says, “THAT WAS 3 STOPLIGHTS AGO”.. I say, “oh.. well, I saw all of the employee entrances, but knew I shouldn’t go in there”.. She continues to stand there glaring at me, w/ arms crossed. She sternly tells me to go back to the 3rd light.. I try to lightheartedly joke w/ her, and says “Hehe, first time in Denver”.. as I’m smiling my best smile. She replies, “APPARENTLY”. I say, “So exactly what is this ahead here?” She states, “A RUNWAY”.. Ohhhhh my… So that would explain the heavy gates, barbed wire and her VERY unhappy self w/ me, a random traveler entering!! Lol!!.. I thank her for her help and slowly continuing backing up to get out of the no-man’s land area… Can you believe that?!? Seriously, talk about crazy happenings.. I couldn’t help but giggle, but man, guess I’m lucky I didn’t get arrested for that one! Sure enough though, the 3rd stoplight back, where it says “Airport Exit” was indeed the right turn I should have made.. haha… So, while Denver airport is nice and all, CHANGE YOUR SIGN! Lol.. So there you have it.. apparently the “Bridget-ims” shall continue…
(will post CO pics this week.. finishing up on an engagement session!)…
