Tuesday, June 10th…

So one never expects to come home on a Friday evening after work to find 2 inches of water standing through 3/4ths of your living room and most of your kitchen.. But in reality, it happens, right! Kaylor & I arrived home to find just that… I could hear water flowing quickly and spraying, but had no idea what it was… I waded into the kitchen to find water pouring out from the bottom of our side by side fridge.. I opened the fridge to find it was like releasing the sides of a swimming pool… Water had filled the ENTIRE inside of the fridge, and rushed at me when I opened the door. I could see the water spraying from the top back corner where the filter was. I quickly shut the door, and water continued to pour out the bottom.. Called Erik, who was still 20mins. from being home, so then called my BIL. He came down and got the direct water line turned off behind the fridge, and we started our plan of attack.. Now that I think about it, I’m sure it was quite the comical scene… We were sloshing around, pants drenched, slipping & sliding all over the place.. Kaylor ran to get towels and returned w/ a roll of paper towels, bless her heart! haha.. Luckily we had saved all of our old towels that we replaced w/ all new ones last fall, so we had lots to use.. I was using our shop vac to suck up as much water as I could.. (those things fill up way to fast, fyi to the shop vac makers.. lol) We were making progress and I ran down to our basement to grab a couple of rubbermaid tubs to ring the towels out in and reuse… That’s what REALLY stopped me in my tracks. Our weight room is right below our kitchen and a guest room that was just completed last fall right below our living room. Both rooms were like rain forests. The water was “raining” everywhere down there, everything was soaked. That looked more of a fiasco than our 1st floor did! We eventually got most of the water cleaned up.. I called a filed an insurance claim and also got the go ahead to have a company come in and start the demo process. Our wood floors in the living and clear down our hallway were torn up and gone in a matter of minutes.. The ceramic tiled kitchen will be fine, but all of the wood flooring must be replaced.. It was a mad house.. Except we did have to keep laughing about the entire situation. It could have been worse, more damage, someone hurt, etc. Neither of those happened, so we consider ourselves lucky. Currently our house looks like a remodeling zone, but thank goodness the huge commercial sized fans that were everywhere are gone!… That was like a whirlwind!

(these are just snapshots from the point & shoot for insurance)
