  • Welcome!…

to “A Step Inside”… our personal family blog, documenting the craziness of our every day life.. Sit back, enjoy, laugh, and share in the road we travel..

I'm Bridget.. A SAHM (stay at home mom), wife, mother of 3, and a follower of Christ. I'm also a photographer, and passionate about life.. I hope to share that w/ you too! Life isn't always perfect, but it's perfectly created in His plan. I'm beyond thankful for God's grace and His many blessings!

Ashlyn’s 9th Birthday

Ashlyn, you’re 9!  You sure know how to keep us on our toes, and we wouldn’t want it any other way 🙂  You are fully of energy, silly pranks, giggles, lots of drama and plenty of science experiments!  Recently I have been discovering your gems… Sometimes it’s slime, sometimes random baking & ingredients, all stashed under the bathroom cabinet for safe keeping.

This birthday, you wanted a magical unicorn theme.  You proudly wore your unicorn headband to church, the grocery store and to school… I love that you aren’t afraid to be yourself!  Sometimes you are strong-willed and a bit dramatic, but it still makes us laugh, and makes you the bold, little girl that you are.

Favorite things right now: making slime, crafts, unicorns, diaries/notebooks, reading books, squishies, anything glittery

You are such a special little girl to us.. you are always caring for your brother and helping him, are very thoughtful, and are always making sweet gifts for others.  You love doing nice things for people to make them feel special, and come up w/ ideas on your own for that all the time.  I love that you have a big heart!

Hope your birthday was a special one, baby girl… Happy 9th birthday!  We love you to the moon and back!

On Ashlyn’s actual birth date, we made “magical unicorn pancakes” for dinner.. Homemade pancakes that had white cake mix in the batter, sprinkles, and whipped cream on top.  We had to skip on the cupcakes for dessert, since dinner was a treat already!

Ashlyn’s Baking Birthday Party I Ivy Lane Bakery

The kids had SO much fun doing this!  We booked a party at a local bakery, Ivy Lane Bakery, and the kids got to make sugar cookie dough from scratch, bake the cookies, make homemade frosting, and then decorate them.  The kids loved learning each of the steps, measuring ingredients, and getting to be a firsthand baker.  The bakery owner is wonderful w/ kids, and they enjoyed every minute.

If you haven’t been, you have GOT to try out the bakery’s goodies… Hands down, the best sugar cookie & frosting I’ve ever had.  I can’t wait to try their other baked items 🙂

Rowen’s 7th Birthday

Our youngest is seven!  I love how excited Rowen gets for his birthday.  When I woke him up w/ good morning kisses and hugs, he immediately jumped out of bed and said, “Yep!  I grew!”.. He’s always making us laugh, and smile.  His favorite things right now, are Rocker BMX trick bikes, Tech Deck skateboards, w/ ramp sets, Beanie Boos, and Squishies, and he’s still asking for a dirt bike.  I think this is year three.. haha

We love you so much, Rowen Zane!  You have THE sweetest heart, are always telling us “I love you”, giving us compliments, and doing kind things for everyone.  I love that even at seven years old, you still hold your mama’s hand and snuggle while watching a movie.  I pray that you’ll always have such kindness, love, and laughter to share w/ everyone.  Happy 7th birthday, my love!

Ashlyn was happily helping Rowen read his birthday cards, even though she looks so somber here 😉

We teased Uncle Brodie for liking the Fingerling monkey toy so much.

Make a wish, little man!

He was SO excited to do some pictures w/ his new bike from Christmas.

These kids had so much fun at a new trampoline park.

Hair Donation Time Again!…

This girl.. She absolutely has a heart of gold.  While she sure can be sassy as all get out at times 😉 she has such a kind and giving heart.

Several weeks ago, Ashlyn started to talk about donating her hair again.  This is her second time donating, the first was 2 years ago at this same time of year.  So, so proud of her.  Sure does make this mama’s heart swell.

We asked her what her “why” was last time… and asked her again;

“I’m inspired by my friend Daelin, because she has a brain tumor.  I thought maybe she can get my hair, so I wanted to donate it.  I like to donate my hair because it helps people, and God knows it’s good for other people.”  -Ashlyn, 8 years old

Kaylor’s Sweet 16th Birthday

Oh, beautiful girl… It’s not quite feeling real that you have turned 16 years old!  From the very first moment they placed you in my arms to this very moment now, I loved you then, and each day I continue to love you even more.

You have become an amazing person through the years.  You’re caring, full of laughter, and have a heart for Jesus.  It’s not always easy being a teenager, and having “annoying” parents, but we’re so thankful for you every day.

Watching you drive away for the very first time, my eyes, flooded w/ tears.  A mix of emotions from overwhelming pride, to fear for your safety, to sadness that you were one step closer to becoming the independent young lady that didn’t need her mama nearly as much any longer.  I pray that you continue to put your trust in God, and He alone, grow stronger in your faith journey, and let that guide you always.

Hope your 16th birthday was just as special as you are… we love you tons!
